What can I do ? Your Civic Foundation, Culture, and Advocacy

The most fundamental political action is to vote in every election—Federal, Provincial, and especially Municipal. This is your power. Normalize this behaviour by dropping reminders to vote and registration deadlines in every group chat you’re in, and always post about voting, especially local candidates. Your voice must also be heard between elections: commit to send five emails this month to elected officials (MLA, MP, or City Councillor) about issues you care about, and take the brave step of going to a local political party meeting to see where decisions are shaped. For a deeper understanding of your system, subscribe to local municipal news updates from your city council to track where tax dollars go, and regularly ask friends and family what resources they use for information (and share yours). Finally, defend your right to knowledge and culture: get a library card and actively use it to help protect library funding, and proactively buy banned books or check them out of the library as a stand for intellectual freedom.
