Accidental Advocate — November 25, 2025
“The Accidental Advocate” created space for an honest and grounded conversation about how people find their way into advocacy and public life. Bonnie Critchley, Lucia Stachurski, and Amanda Patrick each shared personal experiences of stepping forward—often unexpectedly—and what it means to speak up in their communities. The discussion highlighted that advocacy doesn’t start with having all the answers, but with a willingness to act, to connect, and to take that first step.

Alberta Next Town Hall Protest — August 14, 2025
Two Give Voice members attended the Sherwood Park Alberta Next town hall in July. One even stepped up to the mic with a question. It was obvious that these town halls were propaganda sessions. The moderator was biased and did not allow the question to be answered. The session was anti-immigrant and biased.
Being so disgusted, we made the decision to protest at the Edmonton Alberta Next town hall. These town halls did not allow participants to attend more than one session. During the protest, we were joined by a few more people and ended up having six media outlets interview us, with the Edmonton Sun placing us on the front page of the Saturday edition.
Axe the Vax Tax Protest – St. Albert
We advocate for accessible public healthcare, and when the UCP government introduced a $100 administration fee for COVID-19 vaccines, we took to the streets in St. Albert to oppose it. Access to vaccines should not depend on ability to pay, as even a $100 fee can discourage uptake, contribute to a two-tier healthcare system, and negatively impact both individual and public health.
First Roadside Rallies – St. Albert (June 2025)
Our first actions as a group were a series of roadside rallies in St. Albert. During these early events—before the Forever Canadian campaign began—we created a “Never 51” sign in response to discussion of a potential 51st state and Premier Danielle Smith’s visits to the United States, and put that message directly on our signs.
